Sarahisha was born out of love for chikankari.. An ancient traditional embroidery style from the 3rd century BC. The origins of this beautifully delicate shadow threadwork craft are still unknown but back in the days it was only done on white muslin and was made popular by Nur Jehan, Queen of Emperor Jahangir. Chikankari is the epitome of Vintage Indian fashion which everyone which is a staple in every wardrobe..
Unfortunately authentic chikankari is not very easy to come by as most sellers pass off machine embroidery under it’s name and/or it is sold by extremely unaffordable designer labels.
Our humble attempt is to ensure the original art is presented to the lovers of chikankari in a varied range of colors, styles and fabrics to suit the modern-day needs and yet keep the authenticity and class it has been known for over the centuries..
Sarahisha was started by Binod Vikram and Sarosh Samdani. Their brand-name itself is very close to their hearts cos it combines the names of Sarosh’s daughter Sarahi and Binod’s daughter Isha. They wish for the brand to shine like two beautiful girls it’s named after.
Binod has a real-estate firm and a family owned resort in a hill-station and Sarosh is a pastry chef, designer and stylist who took a 12yr sabbatical to raise her family finally and start their dream projects, Sarahisha being the first with many more lined up.
